Considering that everyone loves, warm, silky chocolate, along with a variety of dipping foods, chocolate fondue is the perfect way to get, and keep the party going. However, unless you have a good fondue recipe, it would all be for nothing. Of course, if you are creative, you can always come up with your own signature recipe.
However, to get you started, we wanted to provide you with a couple of options. The following are a couple of basic fondue recipes that can be used to create chocolate fondue desserts.
Recipe One
- 11 1/2 ounces milk chocolate pieces
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 tablespoon crunchy peanut butter
- Milk
- Assorted dipping foods such as orange slices, star fruit, strawberries, banana slices, apple slices, kiwi, and pineapple, as well as cookies, pound cake, and angel food cake, cut into chunks, and marshmallows
Using a double boiler, mix the chocolate pieces and 1/4 cup milk. Heat while stirring constantly over low heat until the chocolate is melted and creamy. Next, stir in the peanut butter, cooking until heated through. Add more milk but just 1 tablespoon at a time until you reach the desired consistency. When done, pour the chocolate mixture into your fondue pot, placing it on the burner but on low heat. Using fondue forks or long skewers, guests would help themselves to the cut up food to dip into the chocolate.
Flaming Turtle
A great variation is to use the same recipe above but omit the peanut butter. Then, stir in 2 tablespoons of caramel ice cream topping, cooking, and stirring until heated through. Again, pour the mixture into the fondue pot on burners and low heat setting. Now, slowly pour 1 tablespoon of rum into the fondue pot, lighting it. Once the flame burns down, which takes about 1 to 2 minutes, sprinkle finely chopped pecans on top of the chocolate and enjoy.
Recipe Two
- 7 ounces sweet chocolate
- 1 1/2 tablespoons white rum
- 1 ounce butter
- 2 tablespoons Greek yogurt
- 1/4 pine whipping cream
- Cut up food for dipping (same as above in Recipe 1)
For this recipe, use a double boiler for melting the rum, chocolate, and butter. Remove from heat. Stir in cream and yogurt, stirring until blended, warm, and creamy. Serve with your favorite dipping foods.
